Meet your chef
Born and bred on the north coast of Cornwall, I’ve been working in the food industry for the past 12 years. From cosy local pubs to rosette restaurants, and, more recently, as a private chef.
I have always loved food and, after joining the waitress team in my local restaurant at 14, I constantly begged the chef to train me on all things food in between serving tables. Working alongside a farmer turned chef opened my eyes to the importance of local produce. How something seemingly simple can take centre stage when prepared with proper attention and care.
Then, I temporarily moved away from the countryside to Bristol. I worked in kitchens specialising in various cuisines and styles allowing me to fulfil my passion discovered all those years ago. Working both front and back of house has also allowed me to learn how a restaurant is best-run, not only from the product offering, but how to connect with people through the way we eat and drink.
After working for two years helping to launch a brand new café on the wild Isle of Mull, I decided I wanted to branch out further, I started working as a private chef across Scotland. Catering for ultra high net worth clients at sporting estates, from 7 night stays to a month at a time.
Since pursuing the idea, I haven’t looked back. The chance to tailor menus to my clients’ needs is something I take very seriously and have plenty of fun with. It is rare that the chef is able to have an intimate dining experience. Being friendly and personable are qualities that I believe are paramount in private dining, and being able to interact with diners is what makes what I do as fun as it is.
